The Speedlite 580EX is Canon’s most powerful Speedlite. A guide number of 58 (m/ISO 100 at 105mm) gives the unit an abundance of capacity for many shooting situations, including telephoto work and bounce flash applications.
An adjustable angle of coverage is suitable for use with wide lenses to 14mm.
It acts as a wireless master to compatible slave units, or as a slave to other Speedlite transmitters such as the ST-E2.
The Speedlite 580EX is a key component of the integrated flash system for both Analogue and Digital SLR cameras. It is fully compatible with the distance linked E-TTL II system found on recent EOS cameras. When fitted to all EOS cameras
released after January 2003, the zoom flash ensures accurate coverage by auto-adjusting to the camera's sensor size.
